Anecdote

One morning I was in India and I was in a country area and a farmer walked past as the Sun was rising about 6am and as he briskly strode along we both greeted each other on the road.

I usually say Namaste as its the common greeting and he said "RAM RAM" in a big powerful voice.

Suddenly the sun became more a fullblown aspect of my consciousness together with the softness of the morning dew the gentle dust on the horizon and the smells of the crops. Something happened when that devotee of Rama the Absolute Being greeted me.  With the sound came an awareness, like an electric shock to my consciousness. The morning, my place in this beautiful universe the blue sky and the brown earth felt like complete perfection and bliss.

Such is the power of sound.
