Chen Tai Chi

Here is a clip of the film "Masters of Heaven and Earth Tai Chi"

In the 90's the keeper of the Chen family form Chen Xiowang visited Adelaide and we were lucky to be able to study with him pushing hands and he did some workshops.

We got on well and when he new I painted he was very kind in giving me a huge piece of Chinese calligraphy with the name CHI on it.  We exchanged paintings in this way as do Chinese students in the arts and martial arts. It felt good and I was really honored to receive a piece of calligraphy.

This is it below; Mr Chen said to me and the other students at the workshops that year that the important thing in Tai Chi is not so much the form but the immersion in Chi.  The main aim is to embrace and become Chi.

I was fortunate to study some Chen family form in Yangshao near Guilin in 1992 with Thomas Wu a great martial artist and real Taoist in spirit. There is a picture of Thomas on my Tai Chi page.  He was one of the most charismatic and kind teachers I ever had.  A real Taoist in spirit and noble character, his charm was over-whelming.
